As the name suggests, Sita Kund has a close connection with Sita Devi, Ram and Lakshman. It is a belief that, while returning from Lanka, Sita Devi felt very thirsty and there were no water body in the near vicinity. Then Lakshman, younger brother of his husband Ram, pricked an arrow on the earth from where there originated a fountain of water. This tank with the presence of a perennial spring is now called as the Sitakund. There is also a Durga Devi temple next to Sita Kund.
