gond

Bridge

wen lord rama reached rameshwaram and saw vast ocean infront of him he asked for the suggestion from his advicers...

sugreev suggested to take a safe route via land but tht could take them 365 days to reach lanka...lord haumana said tht he could fly to lanka so he will carry lord rama and lord lakshmana and other members and will fly but lord rama rejected it as th would consume lots of energy of lord hanumana and he wanted lord hanumana to be at his side ...jamban (bear) said to swim across the ocean... lord lakshmana who was listening to this conversation sulked and said if they wont  die swimming they would certainly fight the battle then lord rama asked for his suggestion to which lord lakshmana replied "we should construct the ship and sail across the ocean"...but sugreev said the troop will require lots of ships and no one in the troop knows the art of building the ship and then it would plunder the forest which he didnt wanted... lord rama said he dont want to plunder the forest there must be some other way out he would request the ocean god to show him the way lord lakshman wasn't happy he went away after some time lord rama stood beside him and asked wht was the matter
lord lakshmana replied in the low tone "y do u suspect my abilities lord rama u know i have build lots of boats during the exile and have learnt the techniques and mechanism from various sages.. allow me i will construct a ship in no time and i assure u we will reach the lanka henceforth"
lord rama smiled and said" i never suspect u lakshmana who better than I know ur immense power i know constructing the ship is lot easier task for u  but sometimes for the sake of dharma one has to opt for a difficult route and impossible task"

lord lakshmana didnt said anything and after three days wen lord rama threatened ocean god and ocean god asked him to build the stone bridge lord rama looked at lakshmana and he understood wht lord rama meant...ramsetu wasnt just the bridge tht he build on the ocean but it was the faith and belief he build in the mind of ppl NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE ! IF HEART AND MIND IS DEVOTED TO THY GOD STONE CAN  FLOAT ON WATER !  Embarrassed

Tibet

wen lord rama went after marich the golden deer and the the demon shouted for help ...sita insisted lakshmana to go to him ignoring his warning tht probably its just a demonic imitation she insulted lakshmana by saying tht he desired her... in tibetian verision of ramayana (popular in some provinces) it is mentioned tht wen sita sent lakshmana after rama she not only accused him of having design on her but added a curse on him saying "Perhaps the younger brother thinks in his mind tht wen elder brother is dead he will live together with me...if i do not want it whoever touch me against my wish be burned " and hence she cursed lakshmana but little did she knew the curse tht she uttered protected her not against the innocent lakshmana but against ravana ...who held her captive but couldnt touch her... truly a curse tht turned into boon for herself

Lanka to Ayodhya to Nepal

अपि स्वर्णमयी लङ्का न मे लक्ष्मण रोचते ।
जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी ।।

After defeating Ravana, and freeing Sita, Lord Rama established Vibhishana as the ruler of Lanka.
Rama's younger brother, Lakshmana, requested him to stay for some more time in Lanka, as it was such a beautiful city.
Rama replied that he was not tempted to tarry there. He did not like (न मे रोचते) Lanka (लङ्का) , even though it was filled with gold (अपि स्वर्णमयी), and very wonderful.

In Rama's view, ones's mother and one's motherland (जननी जन्मभूमिश्च), were both superior to even heaven (स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी).

So how could a mere earthly city like Lanka keep him from returning to Ayodhya ?

The coat of arms of Nepal was changed in December, 2006, to include the flag of Nepal, Mount Everest, green hills, etc., plus a white silhouette in the shape of Nepal. The national motto of Nepal, though, written on the earlier coat of arms, was retained in the new one too.

It is-" जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी l "!

Lakshmana saves sita : (as per nepalese version ) in the the forest exile supernakha saw lord rama and was enchanted by his beauty but seeing sita she got angry and waited for the right oppurtunity here sita had seen a bad dream tht an ogre had come to eat her but rama consoled her and said she should not worry coz he and lakshmana are there to protect hearing this sita is relived next day she asked lakshmana to show her the path to river godavari and they both leave...lakshmana led her to river and then he goes to collect the fruits and flower supernkha found lord rama all alone and approched rama in guise of sita...then she embraced lord rama and lord rama thought tht she is real sita ...she asked lord rama to hold her tightly lord rama was perplexed by her behaviour ...in the meantime the real sita arrived in the cottage supernakha quickly asked lord rama to protect her and said tht the real sita was an ogres and came there to eat her...lord rama believed supernakha as sita and attempts to kill real sita who he thinks is a ogres...sita called lakshmana for help lakshmana arrives at the spot though he cant recognize the real sita but he stopped lord rama from killing the persumed ogres lakshmana then got an idea he tests sita and supernakha by saying the one who brings the parijata flower is the real sita... the real sita fainted as she didnt know where she could find the real parijata flower... whereas supernaha possesed supernatural power she through her power came to know tht the flower bloom in heaven only... she quickly excused herself and rushed outside the cottage she flew to heaven and brought the praijata flower...then lakshmana held her and said only ogres or one who possessed supernatural power could know where the flower flourished ...supernakha grew angry and resumed her original form and ran to kill sita but lakshmana stood before sitamaa and mutilated her...

last rites

many ppl doesnt agree with the words sitaji spoke to lakshmana at panchvati  There is no doubt that the accusations that she levelled against him that day burns the heart and made even Lakshmana to react strongly

Words tht were uttered in anger no doubt. But then, who is not guilty of that sin? Who can be exempted..., 'The words uttered in anger give a clue to the mind, for they slip off when the mind is off-guard.' That may be true in stray instances. But it cannot be the general rule and the guiding factor, always. Not certainly in the case of Sita and Lakshmana.

On the contrary, the better thing is to trust the words of the mind when it is calm relatively; when quietude of comparative terms rule over it.

wen hanumana came for the search for sitaji and asked her for the mssg look wht message she had for Lakshmana...sita said  convey my message to lakshmana  "'Lakshmana, it is your duty to come to my rescue.' There are no ifs and buts and the all-knowing, yet teasing 'even ifs' are totally absent here. '.' Realise that 'it is my duty to rush to her rescue, for I was the one who was protecting her under the orders of Rama.'You were the one who were standing guard at the behest of Rama, before I sent you in search of him. 'idai kOththu vem sirai vIdu.' You, my guard, my protector owe a duty to me to
come to my rescue and take me out of this prison.

"Rama owes a duty to himself and therefore he has to reach here.Lakshmana has the order of Rama to guard me and therefore he owes me a duty to come to my rescue. No. Not simply because of that. There is something else that demands him to do this. He is my son. He owes a duty to his mother. Listen to her."

Also let him know, Hanuman. I won't live a minute more than a month from now. Make this known to Lakshmana in particular..' My penance would come to an end in a period of a month.' if he does not turn up here within that time, ',' let him not come here at all. Let him go to the banks of the Ganges. 'Let him perform my last rites there in the banks of Ganges, with his palms of the colour of lotus petals.

If they do not come within the specified time limit, let them go back to Ayodhya and let Lakshmana perform my last rites in the banks of Ganges, for I would not be living any more.
That speaks volumes of the love that she has for Lakshmana as their own child. Who else can perform the last rites, but the son? there was no request in her words ...only the authority tht she has over lakshmana the undying and pure love tht she has for lakshmana tht she wants him to perform her last rites...Clap

Strangled

"Son, Any decision you take must be right
Why would father object knowing your character's might?"
"I've decided to live in the forest for fourteen years
This very thought brings in him endless tears"

Hearing this Kausalya started to sob
Pleading Rama not to take up the job
Rama became sad seeing His mother's sorrow
Disturbed by this, Lakshman took up his arrow

He strung his bow and twitched it loud
In a moment he became a thunder cloud
In a fit of anger, like a lion he roared
To lofty heights his anger had soared

"Brother, being a Hero why do you worry
The cause of this trouble I've decided to bury
Just take up your bow and come with me
If you wish not to fight, leave it to me"

"I'll tear Kaikeyi into a thousand pieces
And also her husband who silently eases
Not daring to speak against injustice
Pampering that seductive wife of his

Rama smiled like a mother on seeing her child
Amused on seeing his brother, turn so wild
Asked Lakshman to give up arms and take some rest
And started to speak, caressing Lakshman's cheeks and chest

"Brother, if you get angry and start to shoot
Even the hugest mountains you could uproot
But there is always a time to show your might
Not against our father you must propose to fight"

"Not because he's our beloved father, I say this
He is already in pain, you must not add to his.
And those words of disrespect against our father
Never again speak them that's my order"

Strangled by Rama's words of love and truth
Lakshman contained in his heart, his wrath and ruth
And promised Rama that he will never speak like that
Hoping to get from Rama an appreciative pat.

Kalahandi

In the Katpar-Purubadi mountain range of Kalahandi district, a holy place named Patala-Ganga is known for a legend, which says that to quench the thirst of Sita, Lakshmana brought forth water from patala by piercing an arrow into the earth. It is a natural fountain. Here, the footmarks of Rama lakshmana and Sita are worshipped in a stone.
